The new Anglican Bishop of Polynesia was being ordained and installed at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Fiji's capital, Suva on Sunday.
Winston Halapua says that under his leadership, the church will be actively involved in political matters by listening to all sides.
He says the church will be developing economic and social awareness, alongside spiritual matters.
Winston Halapua, who was born in Tonga but is a Fiji citizen, says he is saddened by the political impasse in Fiji, but that over time the situation will improve.
