Work by members of the indigenous Ainu community in northern Japan will be shown alongside work by Ngai Tahu artists and craftspeople at a show opening at the Otago Museum on Saturday.

Waatea News reports it celebrates the 30th anniversary of Dunedin's sister city relationship with Otaru on Hokkaido.

Museum exhibitions director Clare Wilson says most of the Ainu works are tapestries, while the Ngai Tahu contribution includes jewellery, textiles, wood, paintings and sculpture.
