Another two Australian soldiers have been wounded by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.

The Defence Department says the soldiers are in a satisfactory condition after being seriously wounded when the explosive detonated near their Bushmaster armoured vehicle in the Baluchi Valley region of Uruzgan Province.

The ABC reports that the incident comes a day after Private Tomas Dale and Private Grant Kirby were killed and two other soldiers wounded.

That incident occurred while the Australians were overseeing an Afghan army patrol in the Baluchi Valley.

The two most recently injured soldiers were from the same patrol as Private Dale and Private Kirby.
