Police have named a man who died after his car plunged into the Manawatu River.
He was Darren Ellis, 38, from Upper Hutt.
The vehicle went through a roadside barrier in the Manawatu Gorge, falling 20 metres into the river at about 7.30am on Saturday.
Police divers found the body at about 6pm.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
