A boutique brewery is hoping a newly launched Maori business collective will help put its product on the global stage.
The initiative, called Indigenous New Zealand, aims to promote the products of almost 20 Maori food and drink producers here and overseas.
One of the members of the group is Aotearoa Breweries, which makes Mata Beer.
A spokesperson, Tammy Viitakangas of Whakatohea, says she hopes to significantly grow the business as a result of the cluster.
Ms Viitakangas says as a small company it does not have the financial resources to go global alone.
She says working together means the companies can pool resources to promote a range of gourmet products internationally.
Ms Viitakangas says Maori culture is an important part of Aotearoa and the Mata Beer range was designed to be a celebration of New Zealand.
