Ngati Tuwharetoa has appointed a new chairperson for its Maori Trust Board after the tribe's paramount chief, Sir Tumu te Heuheu, resigned from the position in August.
At the time, Sir Tumu said his aim was to focus on his role as tribal chief.
The new chairperson of the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board is John Bishara.
He's also the chief executive of the Maori Broadcasting Funding Agency - Te Mangai Paho.
Mr Bishara says his aim is to ensure that the board remains relevant now and in the future, and is capable of serving its people.
