Tuhoe has April 2013 signing in sights

Tuhoe says it's not likely to sign its Treaty settlement with the Crown until next Easter.

However the iwi still aiming to initial its Deed of Settlement by Christmas.

Tuhoe and the Government have agreed to work on resolving historical claims in a deal worth

$170 million.

Tuhoe chief negotiator Tamati Kruger says both parties are co-operating closely.

Once the Deed of Settlement is initialled by the Crown and the claimant negotiators, the documents are put to tribal members for ratification.
