Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi opens its new campus development in Whakatane on Friday.
The complex includes a library with special collections, student commons, media centre, teaching suites, lecture theatres and study rooms.
It is said to incorporate cutting-edge artistic and cultural elements and has been designed to provide modern, education facilities - all in a Maori environment.
Whakatane is the headquarters for the wananga's educational activities throughout New Zealand and internationally.
The campus will be officially opened on Friday with hundreds of guests joining staff and iwi representatives for a ritual blessing, followed by a ceremony, celebration and special events.
