Maori filmmakers are to be showcased this month at the world's largest indigenous film festival in Canada.

The annual ImagineNATIVE Film and Media Arts Festival celebrates the latest works by indigenous peoples at the forefront of innovation in film, video, radio, and new media.

This year it is highlighting the work of Maori artists, showing feature length films Mana Waka, The Neglected Miracle, Fresh Meat and Mt Zion.

There will also be two short film programmes showing 11 films, including the critically acclaimed Two Cars, One Night.

A number of special events will be held in conjunction with the screenings including panel discussions and workshops with several Maori filmmakers and media artists attending the festival.
