A joint Maori-police project aimed at stopping girls from becoming violent is on hold, because it has used up its funding.
The Nga Tai Tamahine o Kirikiriroa course in Hamilton identifies what it is that triggers girls' anger by using weekends away that include include activities such as caving and rope climbing.
Of 36 rangatahi who have attended, only one went back before the courts.
The scheme is co-managed by the Taiohi Toa Trust which is considering whether or not to reapply for more money from the Ministry of Social Development.
