Auckland Council is coming up with a gameplan for the final weekend of Rugby World Cup matches, following big turnouts of fans for the All Blacks' semi-final.
About 31,000 people gathered in fan zones across the Auckland region to watch New Zealand soundly beat Australia on Sunday night.
Council chief executive Doug McKay says Sunday's fanzone turnout was about twice the attendance for any other match, excluding the opening night.
Mr McKay says officials had new issues to contend with - including a later start time and cruise ships docked on the waterfront.
He says everyone involved performed well.
Although fans are getting in behind the All Blacks, the council is holding off from doubling the size of its South Auckland fanzone.
It approved extra funding for the expansion but now says it can save about $280,000 by keeping it at its current size.
The site can hold 10,000 people but the council says the crowd peaked at about 3000 on Sunday night.
Auckland Transport says the only hitch on Sunday was a signal problem that affected trains at about 11.30pm.
It says people on three affected trains at Britomart were quickly shifted onto 80 buses.
