About 15,000 crocodiles escaped from a farm in South Africa after floodgates were opened due to torrential rains.

AAP reports at least half of the animals from from the Rakwena Crocodile Farm in Limpopo province remain on the loose, scattered far and wide. Some have turned up at a school 120km away.

The army and police have been called in to help track down.

Limpopo has been hit by serious floods that have killed 10 people and made many more homeless.
