At least 65 people have been killed and more than 180 wounded in a bombing at a market in the city of Quetta in Pakistan.

The bomb was detonated by remote-control and police said the death toll could rise.

Quetta police chief Mir Zubai Mehmood said that the explosives weighed as much as 1000kg.

Nearby buildings were brought down and some people may still be trapped under the rubble.

Quetta is the capital of Balochistan province, which borders Iran and Afghanistan.

Last month, at least 92 people were killed and 121 were wounded when suicide bombers blew themselves up at a snooker club in a Shia area of the city.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a banned Sunni group, said it carried out the attacks on 10 January
