Filming was scheduled to resume in Atlanta this week but work has so far been cancelled and Universal Pictures has declined to say when it will restart.

Walker, 40, died when a Porsche being driven by a friend, who also died, crashed near Los Angeles.

Walker starred in all but one instalment of the Fast & Furious franchise which was one of Hollywood's biggest hits thanks to its formula of high-speed chases, underground gangs and thrilling stunts.

Fast & Furious 6 was the highest-grossing film in the series to date, earning more than $US788 worldwide since it was released in May.

Filming of the next chapter began in September, although Universal Pictures has not yet announced how it will handle Walker's unfinished performance. It is scheduled for release in July 2014.

Since its debut in 2001, the series has grossed more than $US2 billion worldwide.
