Passengers hurt when double-decker bus hit tree

More than two dozen people were injured, several of them seriously, when a double-decker bus crashed into a tree in South London on Friday morning.

Metropolitan Police said the incident occurred at 10.52am in Kensington Road.

London Ambulance said 30 people were treated, six of whom were seriously injured.

The ABC reports four fire engines attended and the London Fire Brigade said cutting gear had to be used to free two passengers from the top deck.

ITV and the Evening Standard reported that the bus crashed into the tree after swerving to avoid another vehicle.
