Flatulent cows start fire at German farm

10:11 am on 28 January 2014

Police in Germany say methane gas from 90 flatulent cows exploded in a farm shed on Monday, damaging the roof and injuring one of the animals.

In a statement, they said high levels of the gas had built up in the structure in the town of Rasdorf, then a static electric charge caused the gas to explode with flashes of flames.

One cow was treated for burns.
