Hundreds of friends and fans of Philip Seymour Hoffman have gathered for a candlelight vigil outside his New York theatre company, paying homage to the acclaimed actor who died of a suspected drug overdose.

Hoffman, 46, was found dead in his home on 2 February. Police said 50 envelopes of heroin, syringes and other pills were in the apartment.
A Jesuit priest and member of the company, Father Jim Martin, led a community prayer during the ceremony at the Labyrinth Theatre Company, where Hoffman was once artistic director.
Meanwhile, four people arrested in New York have been charged with drugs offences possibly connected to those found at Hoffman's house.
They were arrested on Tuesday during a raid on a building in lower Manhattan after police traced what they believe to have been the source of the heroin suspected of killing the actor.
Although Hoffman was found with a syringe in his arm, the New York medical examiner said the cause of his death remains undetermined and more study is needed.
