A new phase of the hunt for missing Malaysia Airlines jet MH370 will require an intensified search on the ocean floor over a larger area, Australian Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss says.
Mr Truss said after meeting Chinese and Malaysian officials that seafloor mapping would be needed as much of the wider search area had never been mapped, CNN reported.
A mix of sonar and underwater vehicles would be needed.
Officials would later this week discuss the equipment available and how the search would be funded.
The search of more than four million square kilometres of ocean floor in the southern Indian Ocean has found no trace of the plane.
The co-ordination centre for the search will be moved from Perth to Canberra.
