Sports crowd hit by bomber: 88 killed

A suicide bomber has driven a car into a crowd watching a volleyball tournament between two village teams in northwest Pakistan.

Some 88 people are dead. A Pakistani television station says 65 people have been wounded and more than 20 houses destroyed.

The BBC reports the attack took place near the town of Lakki Marwat, an area regarded as a Taliban stronghold.

The number of people killed in Pakistan in the past three months is almost 600.
