Guests celebrating the new year at the highest pub in England had a longer than expected stay, after heavy snow left them stranded for three days.
About 30 people arrived at the Tan Hill Inn in North Yorkshire on New Year's Eve to welcome in 2010.
But the bad weather conditions meant the residents were snowed in for a further two nights. The pub stands 520 metres above sea level in the Yorkshire Dales.
Mike Willemse told Radio New Zealand's Summer Report there was plenty of food and water, and everybody chipped in with the cooking and washing up.
"It's been quite pleasant - it's been like one happy family. But I think if it had gone on any longer there'd have been a few people suffering cabin fever."
Mr Willemse said he can't yet get to his vehicle, which is several kilometres from the pub. With more severe snow forecast, he believes he may be stuck for another few days.
Resident DJ Peter Richardson, from Richmond in North Yorkshire, told the BBC there had been a strong sense of camaraderie among the guests, who had come from across the United Kingdom.
Guests began making their way home on Sunday, after gritters and snow ploughs arrived and cleared the roads.
