Snooker world champion John Higgins has been suspended from tournaments, as the sport investigates accusations that he agreed to fix future matches.
The chairman of the sport's governing body WISPA, Barry Hearn, announced the suspension only hours before the start of the current world championship final in Sheffield, where Higgins was earlier knocked out by veteran Steve Davis.
The claims were made in The News of the World newspaper, which described a meeting between Higgins, his agent Pat Mooney and reporters purporting to be businessmen in Kiev.
Higgins, 34, denies the accusations. The BBC reports there are no suggestion that he has ever thrown a frame or fixed a match in the past.
