Handover of Fiji newspaper complete

The new owners of the Fiji Times have taken over the reins of the country's oldest newspaper on Wednesday.

The Australian arm of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp sold the paper to Suva-based conglomerate Motibhai Group last week for an undisclosed sum.

Fiji's interim government has ruled that all media must be 90% locally owned.

The newspaper, established in 1868, faced closure at the end of September if News Limited could not find a local buyer, AAP reports.
