MP ordered to apologise for 'rodent' jibe

An Opposition politician in Britain has been forced to apologise for calling a member of the government a ''ginger rodent''.

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman made the jibe in a speech about Treasury chief secretary Danny Alexander.

In response, Mr Alexander tweeted that he is proud to be ginger and that rodents do ''valuable work cleaning up other people's mess'' - a reference to Labour's economic record in government.
