Big heroin seizure in Sydney

3:57 pm on 1 November 2010

Australian federal police have made a seizure of heroin worth $58.8 million.

However, the ABC reports the estimated street value may be seven times that amount.

Three people were arrested in Campsie, in west Sydney, on Saturday.

Customs officers in Sydney discovered packages containing 168kg of heroin hidden inside wooden doors shipped from Malaysia two weeks ago.

Police allowed the doors to be delivered to a warehouse, where the drugs were removed and taken to a nearby house on Friday.

A woman, 55, her son, 28, and a Hong Kong national, 33, were arrested the next evening.
