Police in Fiji have detained five men under the current emergency regulations, in connection with "destabilising activities".

Senior Superintendent Waisea Tabakau says they have been held for two or three days and investigations are continuing.

They were held after pamphlets were distributed outside urban areas.

Superintendent Tabakau says the messages could be intended to disrupt the current calm situation.
