A giant tuna has sold for a record price of 32.49 million yen ($US396,700), at auction in Japan.
The fish, weighing 342kg, was bought jointly by a Tokyo restaurant and a Chinese company running a chain of sushi bars in Hong Kong.
The auction at Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo, was the first of the year. The BBC reports bidding was brisk.
Hong Kong sushi restaurateur Ricky Cheng said he was satisfied with the price even though it was a bit higher than he had expected.
Increasing Chinese prosperity has combined to push up the price of tuna, along with the scarcities caused by world over-fishing.
