Food crisis fear for Pakistan flood victims

9:03 pm on 26 January 2011

International aid agency Oxfam says six months after the flooding disaster in Pakistan, its deepest effects are yet to come.

In a new report, Oxfam says the aid effort has reached millions of people, but the needs are immense, the BBC reports.

The agency says malnutrition levels in the south of the country have sky-rocketed and more action is needed to prevent a secondary food crisis.

It warns that plans by the Pakistani government to stop emergency relief operations in most areas from the end of January could put at risk large numbers of people.
