Quake hits Vanuatu

An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale has struck off Vanuatu.

The United States Geological Survey says the quake was 77 kilometres to the northwest of Port Vila at a depth of 26 kilometres.

The capital felt a sharp jolt, but there have been no reports of damage or injury. No tsunami warning has been issued.
