Auckland to Noumea yacht race back on track

6:11 pm on 30 June 2009

The Auckland to Noumea yacht race is back on track after a storm on Sunday night forced three withdrawals from the race.

The annual event began on Saturday afternoon with 13 entries which are now down to 10.

One of the yachts, Bullrush, retired after breaking its mast and the skipper of another is being treated for a rib injury.

Royal Akarana Yacht Club manager Kevin Robertson says conditions are now favouring the yachts, which should arrive in Noumea on Thursday.
