New race technology could change America's Cup

Sailing in the next America's Cup could be radically different if technology trials underway in Auckland, New Zealand, prove successful.

The organisers of the San Francsico event are testing satellite technology that will improve graphics over live pictures and may even allow race umpires to stay onshore using computer screens.

Cup teams have been trying it out on their 45-foot catamarans.

Organisers will decide soon which elements will be used this year in a world series using the 45-foot versions of the Cup catamarans.
