Pamplona bulls festival to continue

10:57 am on 11 July 2009

The mayor of Pamplona in Spain says the running of the bulls festival will continue despite a man being gored to death.

A man, 27, was the first person to die from a bull attack at the festival for 15 years.

The ABC reports he was gored in the neck on Thursday when a bull broke away from the main pack and started charging the runners.

Three other three runners were also gored and nine people were injured in falls.

The annual festival was made famous in the novel The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

The event causes injuries every year as hundreds of runners from around the world sprint in front of the bulls.
