Prosecutors in New York have asked a judge to dismiss sexual assault charges against former IMF managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
A recommendation for dismissal was filed on Monday at the Manhattan District Attorney's office.
Mr Strauss-Khan was arrested after a hotel maid accused him of attempted rape on 14 May.
However, the case against him appeared to crumble in the past few weeks.
Mr Strauss-Kahn resigned from the IMF four days after his arrest, while he was being held in prison on Rikers Island.
He was freed under house arrest after posting bail of $US1 million cash and a $US5 million insurance company bond.
He is expected to appear in a Manhattan court on Tuesday, when prosecutors will outline the next step in the case.
Ms Diallo, 32, an immigrant from Guinea, told police that Mr Strauss-Kahn, 62, sexually assaulted her in a suite at the Sofitel Hotel.
He was arrested later that day aboard an Air France jet bound for France.
Attorney Kenneth Thompson told RTL radio on Sunday that his client ''feels abandoned'' by the Manhattan district attorney and felt ''that she's being investigated more than Strauss-Kahn''.
