Warne confirms Australian comeback

Australian leg spinner Shane Warne has confirmed he is coming out of retirement to play the full season for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League Twenty20 cricket tournament.

Warne, who is 42, says once he decided to make his comeback in the BBL he was determined to do it properly and that meant playing the full season for the Stars, rather than a token one or two appearances.

His first game will be against the Sydney Thunder at the MCG on 17 December.

Warne retired from Test cricket in 2007 after Australia completed a 5-nil Ashes series' whitewash of England.

In May, he announced he was ending his professional playing career after his final game for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
