An explosion in the Afghan capital Kabul has killed at least eight people, as President Hamid Karzai opened an anti-corruption conference there.
Mr Karzai says two bodyguards of former vice-president Ahmed Zia Massoud were among the dead.
A suicide car bomber was responsible for the blast, outside a hotel used by foreigners in the main diplomatic area.
The fortified hotel was damaged but not as heavily as nearby houses in the district, which is home to government officials, international organisations and diplomatic residences.
