Fiji's national carrier to be reviewed

A team of Singapore Airlines specialist engineers are in Fiji to carry out an internal review on the country's national carrier Air Pacific.

The paper, Fiji Times reports the move is to improve customer service, maintenance and airport handling to speed up the service.

The managing director of Air Pacific, John Campbell, says the airline has been plagued with delays in the past two weeks due to mechanical problems, and other unrelated problems which has affected nearly two thousand passengers.

Mr Campbell says the engineers will be in the country to undertake a thorough review of various faults that have occurred on the B747s over the last two weeks, and of the spare parts support provided by their airline.

He says one of the causes of delays was waiting for parts from Singapore.

Air Pacific operates two Boeing 747 aircraft on lease from Singapore Airlines.
