Solomons opposition lodges no confidence motion in government

9:52 pm on 30 July 2008

The Parliamentary Opposition in Solomon Islands has lodged a Motion of No Confidence against the Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua.

The opposition said earlier it's tabling the motion at the request of people who are suffering as a result of high fuel and food prices.

The mover of the motion was MP for West Honiara, Isaac Inoke, the MP who withdrew the same motion last week when it was set for debate last Friday July 25th.

This time the mover wants the motion to be tabled on Friday August 8th.

The speaker of Parliament, Sir Peter Kenilorea, last week said no reason was given when the motion was withdrawn.
