Solomons and Palau set up diplomatic relations

Solomon Islands has formally established diplomatic relations with Palau.

A deal to that effect was signed in New York by the Solomons deputy prime minister, Fred Fono, and Palau's president, Johnson Toribiong.

Palau has become the 52nd state Solomon Islands has entered into formal relations with.

Palau has been contributing police to the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.

Both countries are members of the Pacific Islands Forum.
