Fiji's interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama has sent condolences to his Tongan counterpart Lord Tu'ivakano on the death of King George Tupou V.
In a diplomatic note Commodore Bainimarama expressed Fiji's regret, saying the death of the King is felt across the Pacific.
He says Fiji, together with its Pacific neighbours, will miss one of the region's great leaders.
Commodore Bainimarama also highlighted the links between Fiji and Tonga.
And he assured Lord Tu'ivakano that Fiji will strive to maintain these traditional links and bilateral cooperation with Tonga, especially in common priority areas.
