Samoa's Steffi Carruthers dispatched Sara Azaddoost in the first singles rubber 6-1 6-0 in Bahrain.

Carol Lee from the Northern Marianas chalked up the same scoreline against Kimiya Asbaghipour to seal victory for the composite team before Papua New Guinea's Abigail Tere-Apisah combined with Steffi Carruthers for a 6-0 6-0 whitewash in the doubles.

The women take on Oman next in Pool C, who beat Malaysia 2-1.

The top team from each of the four pools will advance to the semi finals, which double as promotion playoff matches.
