Greenpeace supports case against French nuclear testing

France is being taken to the International Criminal Court over its nuclear weapons testing in French Polynesia.

The French Polynesian opposition leader Oscar Temaru says the complaint for crimes against humanity was lodged a week ago.

Greenpeace New Zealand supports the action.

A spokesman, Steve Abel, told Dominic Godfrey Greenpeace experienced the lethal consequences of dissent towards the French government's testing programme in 1985 with the bombing of the Rainbow Warrior.
