Well know former Pacific journalist Sean Dorney has given his name to a new grant to encourage more Pacific news stories to be told in Australia.

The $AU10,000 grant is being provided by the Walkley Foundation - a non-profit geared to promoting quality journalism in Australia.

Its chief executive, Louisa Graham, says this grant is being offered to people who cover previously unreported or under-reported Pacific stories.

Don Wiseman asked her who can apply for the grant.
