French Polynesia's pro-independence leader Oscar Temaru has a clean record again after the appeal court in Tahiti annulled his 2019 conviction in the criminal court.

He'd been found guilty of exerting undue influence over the way local station Radio Tefana was funded by the town of Fa'a'a where he's been the mayor for decades.

Now, all involved have been exonerated in a ruling gaining a wide echo.

RNZ Pacific reporter Walter Zweifel talks about the case and what the allegations were.
