Alarming rise in violence against children in the Pacific - Report

From , 6:03 am on 7 May 2024

New research shows an alarming rise in violence against children in the Pacific.

Save the Children's 'Pacific Regional Child Protection Situational Analysis' reveals child protection risks have increased in the Pacific region over the past five years.

Almost 200 children alongside 300 caregivers and 110 child protection staff across five countries took part.

According to the findings, the rise in violence is down to COVID-19, increased migration, climate change, and digital connectivity.

Save the Children New Zealand Advocacy and Research Director Jacqui Southey speaks with host Eleisha Foon about the findings.
