Solomons urged to shelve plans to extend parliamentary term

From Pacific Waves

The Solomon Islands government is being urged to shelve its plans to extend the term of the current parliament by one year.

A cabinet paper outlining the controversial policy leaked and published on social media showed the government had approved a policy to try and push back the National General Election in 2023 to the following year.

It was met with widespread public criticism and prompted questions from the opposition on the floor of parliament.
