Timor-Leste struggles to cope with floods, Covid-19

From Pacific Waves

The UN Children's agency is warning of a dire situation in Timor-Leste where local authorities are struggling with the recovery from recent floods amid a worsening community outbreak of Covid-19.

A dozen children are among the more than 40 people killed in last month's flooding which also left tens of thousands homeless.

In its latest update, the government says close to 30,000 households were affected by the floods, brought on by a cyclone in nearby Indonesia, and 90 percent of the affected homes are in the capital Dili.
