AT THE MOVIES #815       THE TROUBLE WITH REAL LIFE

Simon Morris checks out three films that try and reflect real life – a famous 1960s trial, the reality of modern-day Palestine, and a film whose lead character may or may not be based on the director’s father.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 is Aaron Sorkin’s take on a headline-grabbing court case at the height of the Vietnam War.  With a star-studded cast including Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Sacha Baron Cohen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

It must be heaven is a comic, almost surreal fable, set in three cities – Nazareth, Paris and New York – by Palestinian director Elia Suleiman.

And On the Rocks – is Laura’s husband cheating in her, and is her playboy father Felix the right one to offer advice?  Directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) and Bill Murray (Lost in Translation).
