Nine hundred East Coast and Wairoa region farmers will be phoned over the next two to three weeks as part of the District Council and Federated Farmers initiative to get a real idea just how much damage the late March and subsequent rain events have had. Survey organiser Julie Geange says after disaster they think in terms of "threes". Three days - adrenalin keeps you moving, three weeks - you start to get stuck into the work, three months - mental health suffers as you wonder it you'll ever get through the work and what have you achieved. She says it's important people are checked up on at each of those times.
