Landlords warned to play by rules with rent-setting

Landlords are being warned to play by the rules when it comes to setting rents, as the rent-freeze draws to an end next week. Tenants are bracing themselves for hike, with one tenant RNZ spoke to already getting a notice that her rent will jump up the day the freeze ends - September 25th. Last month, the Commerce Commission had to warn property investors they could be at risk of cartel-like behaviour after discussing raising rents en masse.
