Explained: Paywave surcharges

Now today - 25th of November - is one month from Christmas, and New Zealand retailers are doing that thing where we copy America and have this thing called Black Friday. It's based around the Friday after Thanksgiving holiday in the US where retailers offer huge discounts ou may have also noticed paywave surcharges popping up around the place, we at First Up want to get to the bottom of the reason for these charges.
