There are fresh allegations of war crimes being committed by Russian forces.

As their military leaves the towns and cities around Kyiv that were held under siege, their citizens are starting to share stories of being held captive; footage shows apartment blocks and homes blown up.

In one town - Borodianka - Russian forces went door-to-door and at gunpoint marched up to 150 people of all ages into a freezing school gymnasium where they held them as human shields.

Ukraine's president Volodomyr Zelensky has accused the United Nations Security Council of doing little more than talk.

New Zealand's former Security Council ambassador, and a leading campaigner for its reform, Colin Keating, told Māni Dunlop the Council's failings have been apparent for decades.
